Use of Force Incidents and Supervisory Review

This course is open to all sworn Patrol and Detention personnel in both Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments.

This is a new POST class in which the focus will be on reviewing a Use of Force incident from a supervisor perspective, noting training concerns, consideration of discipline for improper use, and communication utilizing force review forms.

Attendees can expect a workshop discussion and training, where application of laws will be attached directly to real life use of force events caught on body cameras. Current case law will be reviewed, with both court findings and on body camera recordings can change the perspective of the court and public.

  • San Francisco v Sheehan
  • Deorle v Rutherford
  • Headwaters v Co. of Humbolt
  • Tennessee v Garner
  • Torres v Madrid
  • Estelle v Gamble
  • Hudson v McMillian

 

This course has been approved for 2 hours of POST training credit.

Chad served 23 years in Idaho law enforcement. As a commander, he achieved Advanced Patrol and Level III Detention certificates. At ICRMP, Chad trains law enforcement personnel with the highest level POST-certified training available to law enforcement and offers 30 state-wide certified classes. He also assists agencies in developing their own certified training departments.
