Firearms Qualifications/Training for Law Enforcement

This course is open to all sworn Patrol and Detention personnel in both Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments.

Attendees can expect a range discussion where both Federal and State of Idaho laws will be presented for review regarding the use of deadly force. Firearm decisions and handling will be covered, to include movement drills, multiple threats, and public awareness/safety. At the conclusion POST firearms qualifications will be conducted for all those in attendance.

The following will be specifically discussed/presented:

  • Civil liability
  • Graham v Conner
  • Suspect seizure
  • Tennessee v Garner
  • Constitutional concerns
  • Firearms handling
  • Movements and shooting
  • Reloading techniques
  • Malfunctions
  • Transition drills

Qualifications will be done for primary/backup pistols and rifles.

This course has been approved for 4 hours of POST training credit.

Chad served 23 years in Idaho law enforcement. As a commander, he achieved Advanced Patrol and Level III Detention certificates. At ICRMP, Chad trains law enforcement personnel with the highest level POST-certified training available to law enforcement and offers 30 state-wide certified classes. He also assists agencies in developing their own certified training departments.
