This course is open to all sworn or non-sworn Detention Center staff, medical first responders, or related public service agency personnel.
Presented through a combination of classroom lecture and practical exercises, this 4-hour course will provide students with materials that will help them understand the importance of inmate rights and understanding of those that remain while incarcerated. Legal requirements regarding inmate rights will be discussed with an emphasis on the 1st, 4th , 5th, 6th , 8th, and 14th Amendments.

- Constitutional Law
- Freedoms ensured/retained
- Search and Seizure
- Rights guaranteed/punishments
- Religious requirements
- Rights regarding facilities
- Deputy applications
- Civil Liability
