Use of Force Legal Core Training for Detention

This course is open to all sworn Patrol personnel in both Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments.

This class has received excellent reviews and is meant to give the beginning patrol officers the core level needed in use of force decision making.

Attendees can expect classroom discussion training, where problem solving, and decision making will be discussed. Recent national cases will be reviewed, with both court findings and on body camera recordings discussed. Federal legal updates from the SCOTUS will be given, and your policy guidelines will be compared.

  • Suspect Seizure
  • Brandin v California
  • Deorle v Rutherford
  • Headwaters v Co. of Humbolt
  • Deliberate Indifference
  • Qualified Immunity
  • Plumhoff v Rickard
  • McRaven v Sanders

This course has been approved for 8 hours of POST training credit.

Chad served 23 years in Idaho law enforcement. As a commander, he achieved Advanced Patrol and Level III Detention certificates. At ICRMP, Chad trains law enforcement personnel with the highest level POST-certified training available to law enforcement and offers 30 state-wide certified classes. He also assists agencies in developing their own certified training departments.
